Holidays are synonymous with relaxation, sightseeing and great experiences. However, not all vacations go as planned. Medical emergencies, natural disasters, unruly kids, bad hotels and rude locals are just some of the pitfalls of a bad vacation- and these experiences can ruin our idea of travel. Fortunately, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Here are some tips to get over a bad vacation:

Think of the good memories:

Visualise the good memories. This could be a market trip, a visit to a landmark site or a fun activity that made you laugh for hours. Once you fill your mind with positive thoughts, you will forget about the things that went wrong during your holiday.

Plan another trip:

Do not let a holiday disaster stop you from exploring the world. If you are still fretting over the last trip, maybe it is time to create other great memories. The trip does not have to be planned straight away, but having something to look forward too will definitely calm your nerves.

Learn from your mistakes:

The best way to avoid further holiday disasters is to learn from your mistakes. Perhaps steer clear of street food if you had food poisoning the first time or keep valuables in your hotel room if you were mugged the last time. A greater awareness of your mistakes can help you to move on from your terrible experience.
