Gauteng is filled with farmers markets which have become popular over recent years, attracting not only South Africans, but also international tourists.
Farmers' markets are a great hit with the South African audience because they allow visitors to spend the day in the sun drinking artisan smoothies and snacking on freshly-made beignets or falafels.

The list has to start off with one of the most popular markets in northern Johannesburg.
From 2013, the farmers market in Fourways has accelerated to become one of the hot spots of the weekend.
The market boasts over 100 stalls which offer a variety of incredible selection of locally made cheeses, cured meats, sweet treats, jams, freshly squeezed juices, preserves and finally, beautifully handcrafted jewellery, clothing and furniture.

Located in the heart of Pretoria’s Old East, the Hazel food market is the family-friendly food market that some of consider is Pretoria's answer to Fourways Farmers' Market and Arts on Main.
Every Saturday and Sunday, the market offers a number stalls which produce authentic, local produce to their Pretoria residents, in a relaxing space with live music.

Arts on Main is a Sunday market that offers over twenty stalls of food, drink, jewellery and clothing - all of which are in close proximity of each other in the artsy area of Maboneng.
Once visitors have filled their stomachs with the tasty treats on offer, they are able to wander around Maboneng, checking out some of the interesting art and history that makes Johannesburg the special city that it is.

Located in the heart of Braamfontein, the Saturday market features a number of stalls that offer crafts and artisan meals, along with the occasional live performance from an independent artist or popular artist.
A major attraction for students and Braamfontein residents, Neighbourgoods gives people a taste of what Braamfontein has to offer.

Having been host to a number of main events like 947's Joburg Day and the popular Ram Fest, it almost seems fitting that Riversands serves as Midrand's location for a Sunday Market.
The village offers visitors and spectators a great chance to experience life on the far northern part of Johannesburg. This Sunday Market offers a children's play area, artisan food and an assortment of craft beers and smoothies.
The Riversands weekly market is definitely a place to check out for families who desire to escape the city but not the province.
