Cape Town singer and actress Poseletso Sejosingoe first hit the headlines in the singing competition Idols in 2003. Since then, she has shared a stage with international artists including Michael Bolton, Josh Groban, Beyoncé and Westlife.
She turned to theatre and has been in productions including The Magic Flute, which toured the West End, UK, Ireland and Japan; The Mysteries, which was staged in Paris, and A Christmas Carol in London. She is in Scrooge at the Baxter this festive season.
How widely have you travelled?
I have been to Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Namibia, Paris, Tokyo, England, Ireland, Thailand, Australia and Singapore.
Where was your favourite holiday?
Believe it or not, London. People think I’m mad when I say that I love the weather, the politeness of the people in the shops and a feeling that it is safe. I know that it isn’t the case all over but I have always felt this way every time I have visited the city.
Your worst experience on a holiday?
In Ireland when I landed I was tired and waited for my suitcase to arrive on the conveyor belt. Well that did not happen at all. A week later and a few pounds poorer, my suitcase arrived.
Normally I love shopping but doing it this way was not my idea of fun. I had to shop for new things until my baggage finally arrived.
Your funniest experience?
I cannot really talk about my really funniest experience ever in the newspaper because it is not appropriate.
What do you avoid during a holiday?
In London especially I avoid the Tube. I find the London Underground very confusing. Even though it has simplified its maps for tourists, I still find it intimidating. I always travel with a group or a companion when I have to take the Underground.
Best meal abroad?
Thai food. The combination of spices and sweet flavours makes their food simply sublime.
Your favourite place to have sundowners on your travels?
The Camps Bay strip where all the bars and restaurants are situated opposite the beach. The setting is possibly the most exquisite in the world – you cannot blame the tourists and the trendy crowd for hanging out there.
What have you learnt from your travels?
To be patient. It is the one great virtue that will hold you in good stead while travelling. Often there is a communication or language barrier. Also respect for the different cultures.
Ideal travelling companion?
Definitely my best friends, because we like the same things and the same places and most importantly we understand each other so it makes the whole travelling experience so much less stressful.
Culture vulture or adrenalin junkie?
Culture vulture. I love going to the theatre and seeing shows when I am away.
Greatest travel luxury?
My Bodyshop toiletries and my Paco Rabanne perfume.
Favourite drive?
It’s the road along Camps Bay to Bantry Bay, Oudekraal, Llandudno and all the way to Hout Bay.

Travel light and sensibly, less is more.
