London - There are certain books that we love to read, but we are equally happy to leave behind when we return home.

And while JK Rowling and EL James top bestseller lists, they are also among the most left-behind books at Travelodge’s 500 budget hotels.

Indeed, the racier the book, the more likely we are to want to discard it, it seems.

The Travelodge study found that books from James’s Fifty Shades erotic trilogy were the most commonly found by its staff. Overall, 1 500 copies of the novels were left in Travelodges last year – with an average of three in each branch.

The latest in the series, Fifty Shades Freed, topped the list of the 22 648 books found.

The first, Fifty Shades of Grey, made number six in the list, while the second, Fifty Shades Darker, made number ten.

Guests also discarded novels by erotic author Sylvia Day, romance writer Jennifer Probst and thriller author Gillian Flynn. Olympic cyclist Bradley Wiggins was the only male author to make the top ten, with his autobiography My Time the eighth most left behind book. - Daily Mail
