London - A family is selling off their own slice of a tropical island paradise as first prize in a raffle – the tickets cost about $AU66 (about R750).

Doug and Sally Beitz, from the Gold Coast in Queensland are offering their three-acre waterfront resort on the island of Kosrae, Micronesia, in the western Pacific, to a lucky winner.

According to the Beitz family the winner will walk away with a 16-room air-conditioned hotel, a four-bedroom manager residence and two self-contained one-bedroom flats.

And the winner will have no trouble getting around the 111km2 island with the prize also including five rental cars, two 10-seater vans and a pick-up truck.

A scuba business and 80-seater restaurant are also on offer and nearly $A5 400 of stock and more than $A9 000 in a business bank account.
