London - An American sex party company has booked a British manor house for a Downton Abbey-themed event – for swingers.
Grade II-listed Bovey Castle will host five nights of naked pool parties and sex shows… and even an erotic golf competition.
Adult travel firm shoesonly.com will hold its Pleasure Castle event next July for 100 couples, who will pay up to £4 850 (about R86 000) each.
The company’s website boasts: “We have arranged a private takeover of one of England’s most luxurious castle estates. Think a sexy and erotic Downton Abbey.”
Bovey Castle was built in 1907 on Dartmoor in Devon for the second Viscount Hambleden, William Frederick Danvers Smith, but is now a luxury hotel and golf course. It was bought by the Rigby Group in July, which announced plans to spend £2-million on renovations.
The company’s decision to hire it out to swingers, however, has sparked unease among some leisure club members.
One, who did not wish to be named, said: “I hope this isn’t a new direction for the owners. I for one will be concerned about getting in the pool afterwards.”
A spokesman for the Eden Hotel Collection, owner of the Rigby Group, said he “confirms a booking has been made by a North American tour company for exclusive use of Bovey Castle next summer. As with any reservation contract we enter into with a guest, we are unable to discuss confidential details of their booking”. - Daily Mail
