South America is one of the fastest growing travel destinations of the past few years, and Trafalgar is pleased to announce the launch of their 2015 South America brochure that includes Mexico, Costa Rica and Panama.

Adding three new itineraries to its roster, the brochure features a total of 19 expertly-planned trips as well as optional six extensions that allow for maximum flexibility.

In addition to knowledgeable Local Guides in the majority of cities visited, the South American itineraries also include internal flights as well as a number of Local Specialties and exclusive Be My Guest dining experiences that introduce clients to local artisans and homeowners, and offer them a taste of regional flavours and traditions.

“South America is definitely grown in popularity as a travel destination in past few years, and with the recent Fifa World Cup hosted in Brazil the enquiries keep coming in. We are very proud to pay homage to the spirit of all the South American people and the wonderful experiences we know our guests will enjoy,” says Theresa Szejwallo, managing director for Trafalgar South Africa.

“Trafalgar’s Insider Experiences allow clients to really go deep into the heart of South America, as they find themselves dining on homemade meals at the houses of locals and meeting artisans who make a living from creating traditional wares.”

To launch of the new brochure, Trafalgar is offering savings of 10 percent off 2015 South America guided holidays that are booked and paid for by 27 November 2014.

This is a savings of up to R19 834 per couple. Plus, past guests can also save with their additional Frequent Traveller Discount of five percent and the Second Trip discount.

New itineraries for 2015 include Mexico’s Colonial Cities & Coastal Resorts, Natural Wonders of Costa Rica and the Spirit of Argentina, plus two new pre and post extensions Patagonia & Cape Horn Cruise and Uruguay.

Mexico’s Colonial Cities & Coastal Resorts

The urban capital of Mexico City meets the small colonial enclaves like San Miguel de Allende on this trip and visits the coastal resort of Acapulco made famous by Hollywood stars and legendary singers.

Witness the ancient excavations of Teotihuacan with an archaeologist who helped uncover these Aztec ruins. Taste Morelia’s famed food at chef Rubi Silva’s 17th century colonial mansion. Taught by her mother, aunts and grandmother, her work helped the region’s cuisine become recognised by Unesco, and she shares the origins of each dish she serves to you, from Sopa de Corunda (a favourite local soup) to her dessert pastries, before you head to your authentic colonial mansion-turned-hotel by Morelia’s cathedral.

The Hotel Virrey de Mendoza showcases one of Trafalgar’s Insider Experiences – Authentic Accommodation. This historic property offers elegant, colonial-style rooms amidst the rich history of the city of Morelia.

Natural Wonders of Costa Rica

Trafalgar’s new 8-day holiday to Costa Rica will bring you up close and personal with nature. You will meet locals thriving off the land, in harmony with nature at Arenal and Monteverde Cloud Forest, and relax on tropical Guanacaste Beach.

Dine among torches and candles on the terrace of don Alberto and doña Ana Quintana in Sarapiquí. Greeting you at Hacienda Pozo Azul, the Quintana family invites you backstage to their home, where they share anecdotes of how they started this business as a retirement project and how it expanded to help their community. Meet another family near San Jose, and learn how they turned the superb climate and fertile land into a sustainable coffee plantation: a true local speciality.

Spirit of Argentina

Buenos Aires, Iguassu Falls, Bariloche. All the classic sights of Argentina will be experienced but travellers will also go beyond the expected to meet people who unveil the true spirit of this dramatic country.

Enjoy the malty waft of hops as you explore an Argentinian craft brewery. Smell the rich scent of chocolate in the air after a visit to Bariloche’s chocolate museum, indulging in their finest creations at an exclusive tasting. And discover the artistic traditions passed down through the generations with the indigenous Guarani people of Iguassu.
