WTM Africa 2017 celebrates 17% increase in attendees

WTM Africa 2017 saw an increase of 17% in travel professional at this year’s exhibition, while other indicators are reason to celebrate the success of this world-class travel exhibition says Chardonnay Marchesi, General Manager of Africa Travel Week.

 

“We are thrilled to announce that WTM Africa 2017 surpassed previous year’s numbers and then some! We had over 5 000 industry professionals in attendance at this year’s WTM Africa, and have received incredibly positive feedback.”

 

WTM Africa opened with over 8 000 pre-scheduled appointments between exhibitors and buyers, a year-on-year increase of 11%. While 66% of Buyers attended the exhibition for the first time.

 

With over 70 countries represented at WTM Africa 2017, it is also considered the most diverse show yet, with buyers in attendance from Zambia, Ethiopia and Namibia for the first time. In terms of visitors to WTM Africa 2017, 82% were from South Africa, while 18% were international. In addition, WTM Africa saw 364 registered media in attendance.
