It’s almost that time again – spring break! If you are wondering what to get up to for the upcoming school holidays, Jellybean Journal has you covered. Here’s a list of events taking place around the City to keep you entertained and having fun.

  • Spring into Science at the Cape Town Science Centre from October 3 to 10. You can look forward to a programme of science demonstrations, workshops and shows that will inspire your inner scientist, and see your love of science blossom. Visit the Cape Town Science Centre’s website for more info: www.ctsc.org.za
  • Parow Centre will host science shows and exhibitions in conjunction with the Cape Town Science Centre. This will be taking place at Markham Court on October 7 and 8 from 10.30am to 5pm.
  • Waterworld Strand recently reopened, just in time for the school holidays. Located on Beach Road in Strand, it is the perfect venue to get into the summer feel again. They offer a variety of tubes, slides and pools, as well as a full outdoor kids’ adventure play area, including climbing walls and adventure courses. There is also a big lounge for moms and dads to relax in with plenty of shaded tables that are well protected from the wind. For pricing and other information, visit https://www.waterslides.co.za.
  • The I&J Children’s Play Centre at the Two Oceans Aquarium is always a favourite with parents and their little ones. The centre offers interactive arts and crafts, as well as fun and educational puppet shows. Parents can take a break while their kiddies have a run around and a chance to blow off some steam.
  • The Two Oceans Aquarium has reintroduced feeding times. During these special times, specific exhibits and animals are fed, accompanied by an informative talk about the exhibit and the special animals.
  1. Save Our Seas Foundation Shark Exhibit: The sharks are fed every Saturday at 12pm
  2. I&J Ocean Exhibit: Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays at 12pm
  3. Kelp Forest Exhibit: Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays at 12pm
  4. Penguins: Every day at 11.30am and 2.30pm
  • Join the journey and experience the world of witches and wizards and become a member of the mysterious magic circles. Canal Walk will be hosting magic, charm and potion classes for all muggle borns to join and explore the spell-binding fun. The magic session will be presented by the College of Magic, a non-profit organisation that uses performing arts to uplift and inspire young people. The event takes place from October 1 to 8 from 10am to 3.45pm at the Centre Court Stage. The show is recommended for ages 4 to 12. Tickets are available from Webtickets for R70.
  • Wordsworth Books in Somerset Mall is hosting a Gruffalo children’s party on October 4 from 10am to 12pm. The Gruffalo will be visiting the store and party packs and fun activities will be on offer. RSVPs are essential and can go to [email protected].
