When it comes to the festive season memories are created around friends and food.

TikTok content creators Zaynab Paruk and Larnelle Lewies want to spread festive cheer with their easy to make meals and desserts.

Zaynab Paruk(@zaynabparuk), also known as the TikTok baker, is known for her sweet treats and baked goods.

In the lead up to the festive season, Paruk has shown her followers just how easy it was to serve up something delicious for your family.

Paruk, 32, said she gets her inspiration from other online baking and food videos.

“I love the fun aspect and the creativity that comes with making food.

“When I’m inspired to do something fun in the kitchen, by what I saw online, I’ll do it.”

The talented cook said she loved cooking for people all year round but especially this time of year.

“Everyone is in a very festive mood and in a happy place. What better way to celebrate the end of a year than with a wonderful meal shared with your family,” she said.

“Food brings people together, spending time together is always synonymous with food,” she added.

Paruk said her favourite part about creating food content for TikTok is that she gets to create recipes that were accessible to everyone.

“Anyone at any age can learn how to cook and bake. The recipes are so quick and easy, and I love hearing the fact that people have tried my recipes and that they love them.”

This festive season, Paruk wants to relax and spend a lot of time with her family.

“I’m excited to switch off from the stress of the year and enjoy my time with my family.”

This festive season, she plans to indulge in some of her favourite baked goods with her family.

“My family and I love all things chocolate and it’s always a favourite.

“Chocolate brownies, cakes or biscuits – the more chocolate the better.”

Larnelle Lewies (@larnelle) and his family kick off their festive celebrations with a Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday evening, enjoying their favourite festive meals.

Lewies, who often shares recipes on his account, said he and his family stick to traditional recipes every year for Christmas.

“The recipes have been passed down from older generations.

“We have certain things that are mandatory for us.

“We always purchase a meat pack from Woolworths, there’s always a turkey and we have salads and roasted vegetables.”

The young creator said peppermint tart, trifle and a fridge tart are staples on their Christmas table.

“I love being able to create memories around food with my family.

“There is a lot of sentimental value around specific dishes,” he said.

“That’s why everyone has their signature dish because there are sentiments we share around it,” he added.

When it comes to creating food content, Lewies said he has so much fun.

“I love everything from shopping for the ingredients to prepare the dish.

“The only thing I don’t like is cleaning up afterwards.”

Although he doesn’t have a signature dish, Lewies said he always tries to add his flair to various dishes.

“I make the simplest dishes look amazing. I get my inspiration for cooking online and always add my twist to it,” Lewies said.

In future, Lewies want to keep sharing food content online because it’s what caused his account to take flight.

“I will keep sharing cooking videos and recipes.

“I love seeing people trying my recipes and then tagging me in it online.”
