THE family of a missing Manenberg mom is pleading for her safe return after she went missing and her car found abandoned.

Shireen Essop was last seen driving home from work around 2pm on Monday. It is understood that the mother of one, was last seen travelling down Weltevreden Road.

Essop’s family members have urged the public to continue sharing her missing person’s poster on social media while police continue their investigation.

Her family have dismissed rumours about Essop being found on Tuesday morning and her car being found in Khayelitsha.

Essop’s sister-in-law Ayesha Essop confirmed to the Weekend Argus that even though Essop’s car was found, it was not in Khayelitsha.

“We still (haven’t) find her, her car was found, yes, but it was not in Khayelitsha. We also did not receive any calls for ransom.

“We appreciate the help we receive from the public, however, we kindly ask that fake news not be spread.”

“We praying for her safe return. This is in God’s hands.”

Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twiggs said the police were probing the matter but added that no further information could be divulged as investigations were at a sensitive stage.

“The circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated.

Essop was last seen wearing black pants and mustard top.

She is of medium build and around 1.65m tall.
