SA's apex umbrella business organisation Business Unity SA (Busa) has called for unity with the newly formed black business council (BBC).
The BBC was officially launched on Thursday in Midrand.
Most of the black business organisations which formed the newly launched BBC were former members of Busa. They terminated their membership claiming that after several years Busa had failed to adequately advance black businesses.
Busa said it wanted the local business fraternity to be united.
“Busa remains determined in its pursuit of promoting and implementing economic transformation,” it said.
“It therefore remains incorrect and unfortunate that allegations are made that Busa represents white business interests and that, by implication, it is riding roughshod over black business interests.”
Busa said that working together as business “would exude a message of confidence to the country.”
Busa said it believed that it was in the national interest for both the BBC and BUSA to remain committed to the engagement process and that together they could continue to explore innovative ways to ensure the realisation of a unified representative voice of business in SA. - I-Net Bridge
