The loss of production at the Modder East mine due to an illegal strike had a negative impact on results for the six months to June, Gold One said on Friday. Although the turnaround initiatives at the Cooke operations were well advanced, they were not yet having a material impact on profit. Despite lower output, Modder East achieved a healthy margin. The group made a A$4.06 million (R35.2m) loss for the six months to June. – Dineo Faku
