SA mining output increases

Mining production in SA rose by 4.2% year on year in June after a revised 0.9% (0.8%) year-on-year increase in May‚ data released by Statistics SA showed on Wednesday.

Actual mining production decreased by 2.1% in the second quarter compared with the same period last year.

Seasonally adjusted mining production rose by 7.1% in the second quarter compared with the first quarter of this year.

The main contributors to the quarterly percentage change came from platinum group metals‚ which contributed 4.4 percentage points; and iron ore‚ which contributed 1.8 percentage points. - I-Net Bridge
