President Jacob Zuma met with other Brics leaders soon after arriving in Cannes for the annual G20 Summit on Wednesday night.
Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan accompanied the president for the two-day event which brings together the world's 20 largest economies. Although SA ranks 24th, it was invited in a special capacity as Africa's largest economy.
Zuma is expected to join Brazil, Russia, India and China to push for a coordinated response to the European debt crisis. Volatility in commodities markets, food prices and infrastructure-development opportunities in Africa are also on the agenda. - I-Net Bridge
