Assore up as iron ore prices climb

Shares of South African base metals producer Assore biggest gainer among South African blue chips, lifted in part by high iron ore prices.

At 11:40 SA time, its share price was 1.41 percent higher at 401.27 rand, outperforming the Top 40 index which was 0.27 percent lower.

Iron ore prices reached their highest since July as steelmakers replenish stocks in the world's top consumer, China. Assore has a 50 percent interest in Assmang Limited which produces iron ore. - Reuters
