Chabane visits Marikana familyComment on this story
Minister Collins Chabane visited Swaziland on Thursday to convey condolences to the family of a victim of the recent Lonmin Marikana mine shooting.
“The minister visited the Gadlela family and passed condolences to the family and the Swaziland government on behalf of President Jacob Zuma, and the people of South Africa,” spokesman Harold Maloka said in a statement.
Chabane, who is minister in the presidency for performance monitoring, also chairs an inter-ministerial committee dealing with the aftermath of the Marikana shooting.
He met family members who thanked the government for ensuring that Stelega Gadlela was brought home in time for burial, said Maloka.
Gadlela will buried in Kadvokolwako, Swaziland on Saturday.
The Swaziland government offered to help the Gadlela family with anything they needed.
Maloka could not say whether Gadlela was the family breadwinner.
