Johannesburg - Power utility Eskom said it was able to meet South Africa’s electricity demands on Tuesday, while performing the necessary maintenance on its power plants.
“We have stabilised and to date we have not implemented load shedding for over 11 months, except for two hours and 20 minutes,” Eskom said in a statement.
“We are ensuring that power supply remains unconstrained through our maintenance programme.
“Eskom has sufficient generation capacity to meet the peak demand, due to improved energy availability factor; currently the year-to-date figure stands at 78.9 percent.”
Eskom said that it has worked hard to restore and stabilise the electricity distribution network around the country.
