FibreCo: Skills training rolled out in EL

Comment on this story

FibreCo, a joint venture between Cell C, Internet Solutions and Convergence Partners, is rolling out skills in the maintenance of fibre-optic infrastructure to 20 candidates in East London. They are employees in small, micro and medium-sized enterprises and further education and training train-the-trainer candidates. The group will join 30 participants who have already completed the programme in Bloemfontein. The training is accredited internationally and equips the trainees to be employed for operation and maintenance projects on fibre-optic networks. FibreCo is building a fibre-optic network of more than 5 000km of cable linking Johannesburg, Bloemfontein, East London and Cape Town. – Asha Speckman
