impala Platinum Zim refinery talks ‘interesting’

Comment on this story

Zimbabwean Mines Minister Walter Chidakwa had held “interesting discussions” with Impala Platinum (Implats) chairman Khotso Mokhele on building a base metal refinery in the country, he said last week. “They have got ideas which we are beginning to consider as well,” Chidakwa said. Zimbabwe wants the biggest platinum producers to build a refinery to help kick-start the recovery of its economy. Firms including Implats and Anglo American Platinum would be compelled to send their ore to the plants. Implats gained 1.27 percent on Thursday to close at R118.07. – Bloomberg
