Italtile has denied reports that it is contemplating an urgent court interdict against the SA Civil Aviation Authority over its investigation of a plane crash in which CEO Gianpaolo Ravazzotti and eight others died.
“The group is neither planning to take legal action against the CAA nor has it indicated that it will,” Italtile chief financial officer Peter Swatton said in a statement on Wednesday.
“We are satisfied with the course of action that the CAA is currently pursuing,” he said.
The plane crashed on February 8 in the Robberg area, near Plettenberg Bay, in the Western Cape.
The company said the SACAA had its full support, to the extent that, early in the investigation, it offered financial assistance for the salvage operation. The SACAA elected to not accept the offer.
“It is in the interests of all involved to conclude this investigation as professionally and expeditiously as possible, and that remains our view,” said Swatton.
He said the person quoted in the reports was neither an employee of the company, nor was he tasked with serving as a spokesman for the group. - Sapa
