Parliament, Cape Town - Parliament will convene a National Assembly sitting on Tuesday to discuss the Lonmin mine shooting, African National Congress Chief Whip Mathole Motshekga said.
He said on Monday he had called an urgent multi-party chief whip forum to discuss the matter.
“It is indeed deeply saddening that people should lose their lives in such a gruesome manner.”
MPs, accompanied by church leaders, would hold a memorial service at noon before the National Assembly debate.
“We commend the president's decision to declare a week of mourning starting today, and the flying of our national flags at half-mast,” Motshekga said.
