Founded in 2000, GIBS is an internationally accredited business school based in Johannesburg that recognises shifting dynamics within the industry and accommodates them in its curriculum. The compulsory global module is a distinctive element of its MBA programme, which takes place in the second year of study and potential destinations include India, Latin America, China, the east and west coast of the US and Japan.
The compulsory module allows students to focus on the unique opportunities and challenges offered by the various countries. Each destination is linked to global best practice and allows students to study first-hand how their peers in diverse markets operate, offering insights that are unobtainable to many executives. It offers prospective students the choice of three AMBA-accredited MBA programmes, including the modular, part-time and full-time MBA. From January 2013, the full-time MBA will offer dual entrepreneurship and general management tracks.

All students are placed within a syndicate group in which valuable networks are developed and knowledge gained. Networks built during and after their time on campus will prove to be invaluable on a personal and professional level. Each group is selected to ensure the utmost in diversity and experience.
Other significant networks include the GIBS Forum, a weekly gathering of executives who are addressed by leading South African experts, opinion leaders and practitioners and the alumni association, which allows MBA graduates to meet and interact with their peers on an ongoing basis upon completion of their degree.
