ANADARKO Petroleum is poised to select a construction team led by Chicago Bridge & Iron )CB&I) as its main contractor for a potential $15 billion (R176.35bn) Mozambique liquefied natural gas project, according to people familiar with the matter.

The company and its engineering and construction partners will work with The Woodlands, Texas-based energy explorer to begin project planning with the country’s government, according to unnamed sources. Anadarko said it would make a final investment decision on whether to proceed with the project by the end of the year. The selection of CB&I’s group to build the export project is a key step in developing one of the biggest oil and gas discoveries in a generation. – Bloomberg
