“Twitter is the fastest way to find out what’s happening, and beneath its simplicity lies a very sophisticated set of technology,” Taylor, 35, said in statement accompanying a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

“I hope to bring my knowledge and experiences to bear to help Jack and the board push Twitter and its services forward.”

Twitter’s stock has lost about a quarter of its value this year as co-founder Jack Dorsey works to rekindle the site’s user growth to boost advertising revenue.

The company has been trying to make its product easier to use in an effort to gain attention from a broader audience, focusing on video and curated content from live events.
