US stock futures rise

New York - US stock futures rose, pushing the Standard & Poor's 500 index toward its third straight week of gains. Travel booking company climbed after reporting strong earnings.

The Dow Jones industrial average futures were up 18 points to 16,118 as of 8:54 a.m. Eastern time. The Standard & Poor's 500

index futures rose five points to 1,838 and the Nasdaq futures rose four points to 3,675. climbed $33.75, or 2.6 percent, to $1,316.70 after the online travel company reported earnings that exceeded expectations of Wall Street analysts.

Hewlett-Packard rose 32 cents, or 1.1 percent, to $30.51 after the company reported first-quarter earnings and revenue late Thursday that topped Wall Street's forecasts. The results were boosted by the surprising strength of personal computer sales to businesses.

The yield on the 10-year Treasury note climbed to 2.77 percent from 2.75 percent Thursday. The price of oil fell 36 cents, or 0.4 percent, to $102.40 a barrel. Gold rose $6, or 0.5 percent, to $1,322.60.
