SA’s March headline PPI quickens

Johannesburg - South Africa's headline producer inflation accelerated to 8.2 percent year-on-year in March from 7.7 percent in February, Statistics South Africa said on Thursday.

Economists polled by Reuters had predicted PPI would quicken only slightly to 7.8 percent.

On a month-on-month basis, prices at the factory gate rose by 1.3 percent in March, the same rate as February, against market forecasts of a 0.9 percent increase.
