Workers at Village Main Reef’s Buffelsfontein gold mine were back at work after an unprotected strike, the firm said yesterday.

“Village is pleased to advise that it has reached agreement with its employees, and that operations at Buffels returned to normal, with all workers returning to work with effect from the night shift on November 7,” joint chief executive Marius Saaiman said.

Workers at its mine near Klerksdorp downed tools on Monday night. National Union of Mineworkers spokesman Lesiba Seshoka said one of their issues was about wages, and that the union had sent a team to help them resolve the problem.
