NORMAN Adami had been appointed as an independent non-executive director on the Famous Brands board, effective from February 24, 2015, the food servicing company said yesterday. Adami is executive chairman of SAB Beverages, responsible for the company’s beer division, Coca-Cola bottler and soft drinks business Appletiser. He is also partnership director of SABMiller’s global relationship with the The Coca-Cola Company, a position he will retire from at the end of the month. Famous Brands chief executive Kevin Hedderwick said: “I am delighted and excited about the wealth of experience that Adami will bring to our board, as the opportunity to renew my acquaintance with him, which dates back to my own career at SABMiller.” He added that Adami was an astute leader. Adami began his career at SAB in 1979 and became the managing director in 1994 and chairman in 2000. Among other senior positions he held at the company, he was appointed president and chief executive of SABMiller Americas in 2006. Famous Brands shares rose 3.46 percent to close at R107.30 yesterday. – Nompumelelo Magwaza
