TRANSNET had withdrawn all litigation against Abalozi Risk Services, formerly General Nyanda Security Services, the state-owned entity announced yesterday, saying its five-year probe had found no evidence of wrongdoing. The founder of Abalozi is retired general Siphiwe Nyanda, the former head of the SANDF and former minister of communications. Transnet Freight Rail awarded a R95 million tender to General Nyanda Security Services to guard railway lines. In 2012, the rail operator said it was suing to recover “fruitless and wasteful expenditure”. Transnet spokesman Mboniso Sigonyela said yesterday that the parastatal regretted any harm that might have been caused by its handling of the matter. – Wiseman Khuzwayo
