CAPE TOWN - The Metro Police Department (MPD) confiscated dagga with an estimated street value of R30 000 in Khayelitsha on Saturday.

Officers received a tip off and found the drugs hidden behind public toilets in Town Two, F1 Section.

The haul included 51 parcels of dagga and half a potato bag filled with raw dagga seeds. 

Elsewhere, the MPD arrested 39 motorists for drunk driving and 24 suspects for possession of drugs. 

The Cape Town Traffic Service arrested 79 suspects and issued 941 fines for various other offences in the last week.

Of those arrested, 14 were picked up for drunk driving and reckless and negligent driving during illegal street racing operations in Milnerton/Plattekloof (8) and Mamre (6).

During other operations, 21 motorists were arrested for drunk driving at a roadblock in Fish Hoek; 12 in Hout Bay and 32 in Table View (26 drunk driving and six for reckless and negligent driving). One of those arrested in the Table View operation on Friday night was an 18-year-old who was too intoxicated to provide a breath sample and threw up several times at the police station before passing out.
