PRETORIA: Former National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) prosecutor advocate Glynnis Breytenbach is said to have deleted documents pertaining to the Kumba/Iron Ore/Sishen and Imperial Crown Trading matter.

At the time, Breytenbach was presiding over a matter being investigated by the NPA.

In April 2012, Breytenbach was suspended from the NPA and later faced a lengthy disciplinary hearing on 15 charges, which included failing to act impartially while investigating the Kumba/Iron Ore/Sishen and Imperial Crown Trading mining rights issue.

This was said during her trial at the Pretoria North Magistrate’s Court yesterday in which she and former attorney Gerhard Wagenaar are accused of defeating the ends of justice and contravening the NPA Act.

William Gloster, an internal investigator of the NPA, told the court that once they obtained Breytenbach’s laptop the services of Nexus Forensic Services were enlisted and a report compiled by them listed that certain files had been removed from it.

“After getting information from the NPA server and comparing it to the report, it was discovered that documents involving Kumba and a private business she had with advocate Andre Bezuidenhout through a company named Execuhitch were deleted from the laptop.”

He also noted that Brey- tenbach had duplicated the information on her laptop at the NPA’s offices before anydocuments were deleted.
