KENILWORTH Racecourse will be a hive of activity when it welcomes horse racing enthusiasts, fashion, music and food lovers to celebrate J&B’s 39th anniversary as the sponsor of the J&B Met on Saturday.

This year’s J&B Met is themed “A Rare Blend”.

Since its inception the event has attracted South Africans from all walks of life.

J&B Met publicist Eddy Cassar said from day one J&B’s story had been about the different and the unexpected coming together and creating something rare, and this was the basis of the theme for this year’s event.

He said the Met had remained the country’s top outdoor social event

.

“J&B encourages you to think beyond the norm, to create something different and unexpected and wear an outfit that is itself a rare blend, made different just like J&B,” said Cassar.

He said one of the highlights of J&B Met day is the J&B Most Elegant Couple competition.

Meanwhile, 18 of South Africa’s best horses will take centre stage and slug it out during a 2 000m race. Pocket Power is the only horse to have won the race three times.

CSquared head designer Wayne Govender said the Met would present an opportunity for gentlemen racegoers to dress to impress. “We have used colours that rarely blend but stand out individually as bold, strong statement colours.

Head designer Richard Huisamen, from the Fashion Collective, said: “We are going for an eclectic mix of colours and fabrics. By using contrasting prints in the same colour, we can create a mix of prints, but can keep the cut of the dress very simple.”

Tickets for the J&B Met cost R125 and are available through Computicket or designated tote offices around Cape Town.

Enquires can be made at www.jbscotch.co.za or by calling Kenilworth Racecourse on 021 700 1600.
