ON Saturday June 4, 11 and 18 the Amphitheatre stage at the V&A Waterfront will be hosting an exciting new talent search, titled the Divas Unite Young Divas Singing Competition.

The search to find the first Young Diva to perform at this year’s Divas Unite concert on national Women’s Day can be attended by the public and is open to talented young vocalists between the ages of 8 and 18.

From 2pm to 4pm on Saturdays June 4 and 11, the audition rounds will take place where pre-selected young vocalists will each perform one composition for the judges, Kim Kallie, Bev Scott-Brown and Adelia Douw.

On June 18 from 2pm onwards the final round will showcase the 10 selected finalists, who will each perform two songs. At the end of this round the winner will be announced to the public.

The winner will be invited to perform with a symphony orchestra alongside some of South Africa’s top singers at the upcoming Divas Unite 2016 concert, due to be staged at The Grand Arena at GrandWest Casino on Women’s Day on August 9.

The diva line-up for this year includes, amongst others, gospel singer and TV personality, Rouchelle Liedemann and popular young jazz songstress, Adelia Douw, as well as the award-winning sopranos, Magdalene Minnaar and Lynelle Kenned, plus seven-time SAMA- nominated all-women ensemble , Blackbyrd. Says event initiator and producer, Barbara Lenhard, ‘We are absolutely delighted to share this wonderful platform with our vocal divas of the future. The first Young Diva will have the opportunity to perform in the company of leading female vocalists, plus our very own Divas Unite Choir.’

Talented young vocalists wishing to take part in the upcoming competition can find more information online.
