The bail application for the men implicated in the murder of four-year-old Iyapha Yamile will be heard next week.

The case was postponed at the Khayelitsha Magistrate's Court yesterday.

The prosecution team and the investigating officer will commence with the bail application when outstanding DNA results are available.

Thabo Titus and Thabiso Mtshanguta will spend the next 11 days in Pollsmoor.

The courtroom was packed with Iyapha’s family, friends and community members, who wore T-shirts with the little girl’s picture, and came to show their support.

The men were arrested days after Iyapha lifeless body was found in a plastic bag in Town Two in Khayelitsha this month.

Her parents reported her missing on April 30 when she was nowhere to be found after they returned from a church service.

Speaking to the Cape Times shortly after the postponement Iyapha's father Danile Ngongoshe said coming to the court and seeing the accused men was painful, but he is getting stronger every day and is receiving counselling.

Ngongoshe said all he wants is justice and bail to be denied for the accused.

“I am coping,” said Ngongoshe.

A community member Lungisani Boyi said the community will sign a petition and hand it to the prosecutor calling for the men to be denied bail.

“We plead with the court not to release the accused on bail because that could cause the community to take the law into their own hands and their release on bail would destabilise peace in our areas,” said Boyi.
