A FIRE gutted 20 homes in Uitsig near Elsies River on Friday, leaving about 55 people destitute.Ward Councillor Beverley van Reenen said residents "lost everything they ever worked for", including their ID documents, birth certificates and Sassa cards.
Ravensmead High pupil, Celeste de Waal, is supposed to write a Geography exam on Monday, but does not know how she will study as she lost all her textbooks in the blaze.
Those affected slept in the community hall at the weekend.
