PROPERTY mogul Jason Rohde was arrested in his Joburg home yesterday in connection with the murder last month of his wife Susan.

Her body was found in a hotel room on the Spier wine estate in July. The couple had been staying near Lynedoch for a function. Initial police investigations suggested that her death was a suicide. But three weeks ago, following a post-mortem report stating she was strangled, police reclassified the case to a murder investigation.

Jason Rohde, 47, is chief executive of Lew Geffen Sotheby’s International Realty in South Africa.

Police spokesman Captain FC van Wyk said Rohde was arrested at his home at about 6.50am yesterday and would appear in the Stellenbosch Magistrate’s Court on a murder charge.

Rohde’s attorney Tony Mostert said they had co-operated with police.

Last week, Mostert was quoted as saying his client was suffering from stress but being strong to support the couple’s three young daughters. Mostert expressed his disapproval of how the media was treating the case and “exploiting his grief”.
