RISING star Thembeka Mnguni, who released her debut album, Brave last Friday, will collaborate with some of South Africa’s foremost female artists in an all -women concert titled Divas Unite, at GrandWest on August 9 in celebration of Women’s Day.

This will be Mnguni’s first major appearance on a big stage with a symphony orchestra.

Fans of the reality TV talent series, The Voice, will recognise Mnguni from her performances on the show.

Making it into the final of the production was a big achievement for her, and despite not winning, she secured a record contract which has resulted in the release of her first album.

Mnguni is no stranger to the entertainment scene having toured for many years ago with theatre impresario Pieter Toerien’s productions of popular musicals such as Grease and High School Musical.

Elouise Matthys, PR and Promotions Manager at GrandWest, says: “We are delighted to host Mnguni on our stage for her first major show.”

“Her fans should enjoy seeing her perform live for the first time with a symphonic orchestra since The Voice,” she adds.

Also on the bumper bill for the Divas Unite concert at GrandWest will be Zoë Modiga, Blackbyrd, Rouchelle Liedemann, Magdalene Minnaar, Lynelle Kenned, jazz singer Adelia Douw, legendary Judy Page, Donné de Kock, jazz vocalist Bev Scott-Brown and Kim Kallie.

The Divas Unite concert will start at 3pm, but doors to the Grand Arena will open early at 2pm. - Staff Writer
