True Beliebers queued for 16 hours...
DIEHARD fans of teenage pop sensation Justin Bieber queued for hours yesterday for tickets to the star’s Cape Town and Johannesburg concerts, scheduled for May.
They were doomed to failure, however, as the record-breaking speed of online sales snapped up the best seats. Golden Circle tickets for the shows sold out within the first two minutes, and general standing tickets were gone within five.
On the Big Concerts Facebook page, one Bieber fan shared: “Stood in Constantia Village queue in Cape Town 16 HOURS. 5pm till 9am. Camped out. Was FIRST in the queue. Been waiting all my life to go into golden circle!
“I WAS FIRST AND NEVER GOT A GOLDEN CIRCLE TICKET! Was heartbroken and disappointed. 16 hours sleeping outside a mall vs 1 hour queue online doesn’t seem fair.” (sic)
Big Concerts had to shell out an additional 7 700 tickets to meet demand, bringing the total tickets sold by Computicket to 56 700, most of which were gone within the first half hour.
Twitter was awash with congratulatory tweets for those of the so-called “SABelieberFamily” who managed to get tickets as well as consoling tweets for those who didn’t.
One Bieber fan, @Pledge_1D_Love, tweeted: “I nearly got hit by a car when I broke down in the street yesterday after finding out I got a ticket.”
Bieber will be performing at Cape Town Stadium on May 8 and at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg on May 12.
