A Pretoria mother who was attacked by two armed robbers in her home on Friday night managed to summon help by updating her Facebook status, it was reported on Monday.

Lizette Langeveld, 43, was confronted by two armed men who broke into her Centurion home around 7.30pm, physically assaulted her and threatened to rape her, the Beeld reported.

They tied her up in her bedroom together with her 10-year-old son, took her cellphone and told her they would wait for her husband to come home and kill him.

She managed to free both her son and herself and they hid inside her wardrobe with her laptop computer.

She updated her Facebook status, saying "Please help! We have an armed robbery, they're waiting for Hennie at the gate, please phone him, don't let him come inside."

A second message was posted a few minutes later, saying "Help! Call Hennie. We've managed to untie ourselves. They said they would come back to rape me. Armed."

One of Langeveld's friends saw the message on Facebook, and alerted Hennie Langeveld immediately.

Police and security guards arrived on the scene within minutes, but the robbers had fled. - Sapa
