Durban’s Jordy Smith spends time with fans after advancing into the round of 24 at the Ballito Pro on Thursday. Also cruising into Friday’s round is uMhlanga surfer Beyrick de Vries, who used his local knowledge and some aerial antics to impress the judges in the R4 million international event. Smith said: ‘I’m stoked that myself and Beyrick made it through, so that’s pretty cool for South Africa, hopefully we can keep it going.'
