Durban - A mother and her two teen children have been found bludgeoned to death in their Chatsworth home.
Police believe the mother, Mala Kandasamy, son Megandran, 19, and daughter Melarisa, 18, were beaten to death with a Hanuman stick at their home in Timueria Street in Moorton.
A Hanuman stick or club is the weapon and symbol of the revered Hindu monkey god.
Police found the bodies last night after they were contacted by relatives who had tried in vain to get hold of the deceased.
After breaking down the door to the house, police discovered all three bodies in a pool of blood in the main bedroom.
The three had each suffered multiple head injuries and were pronounced dead by paramedics.
A “Hanuman stick” found at the crime scene and was seized by police.
Louie Manthree, a relative, who was at scene on Monday described Mala as a humble person: “Her children were talented dancers and performed often with (events co-ordinator) Pinky Mothie. They didn’t deserve this.”
Melarisa, who attended Crossmoor Secondary, had been awaiting her matric results.
SAPS spokesman, Captain Thulani Zwane, said the house appeared to have been in disarray but no items were stolen and the cellular phones and valuables were still intact.
No arrests have been made.
