London - Susan Boyle doesn't find fame “scary” anymore.

The Scottish singing sensation - who shocked audiences around the world with her performances on Britain's Got Talent in 2009 - has learned to cope with the constant attention her music has brought her and she doesn't think she has changed as a person.

Speaking in an interview on British station BBC Radio 2, Susan said: “I'm exactly the same. I'm more relaxed about myself now, it's not so scary anymore, people are more used to me as well. You get the ones who want to be your best friend and don't really mean it. I've noticed that a few times. I can spot it, I don't say anything to them though. The ones who stuck by me have been really good.”

The 51-year-old singer was taunted throughout her life for being different, but is having the last laugh because she now feels happy and secure as a person.

Susan mused: “You never judge a book by the cover that person could have very good qualities. It's alright to be a dolly bird and stuff like that, but people don't have the money sometimes and you should just be content in yourself. It is a bit of a waiting game. Age is a bit of a leveller.”

However, the I Dreamed A Dream singer is still critical of herself and thought she looked like a “scarecrow” when she watched her iconic first audition on the ITV1 show back.

She laughed: “I got ready in a hurry and I didn't really know how bad I was until I saw it. You talk about the scarecrow! It was half past six in the morning when I got ready ... I thought I was beautiful in that frock as well!” - Bang Showbiz
