Rio de Janeiro - Brazilian singer Loalwa Braz, who became
famous for the 1989 global hit "Lambada," was found dead Thursday in
a burned car outside Rio de Janeiro, civil police told dpa.
The 63-year-old Braz's charred body was found near her home in
Saquarema, in the northern state of Rio.
Police are investigating what they called a "crime," and Brazil's
Globo News reported that the discovery of the body followed an
attempted robbery and fire at the singer's home.
Braz sang lead vocals for Kaoma, the Franco-Brazilian group behind the multi-platinum "Lambada," as well as the follow-up single
"Dancando Lambada."
