In light of the cancellation of the Tonight Neither Hamlet run at the Kalk Bay Theatre, there will be another one-man show on stage this week.

Soli Philander brings us Taxi Nights from tomorrow until April 28. From its radio to TV instalments, Taxi Nights has become a popular entertainment show in Cape Town. Until the end of the month, Philander will play host in Taxi Nights while several singers, comedians and other entertainers thrill the audience.

The guest performers include comedians Wayne McKay, Eugene Matthews (who was a real- life taxi driver before the stand-up comedy bug bit) and one of the most exciting female voices in South African comedy, Shimmy Isaacs. Philander will also have a few tricks up his sleeve… or dress.

He’ll bring his female characters, the likes of Rosie September and Nameless Wife from Hotnotsgo on to the stage. He is the Taxi Boss after all, so he can do whatever he likes. It’s all fun and games, but there is a strong message behind the whole Taxi Nights experience. It’s that there is a common thread running through humour, home and the heart.

Watching this show is a start to finding that thread.
