IT’S been a while since popular Durban comedian Neil green staged his first one-man show, I’m Ill.

This weekend sees the show’s comeback – with a fresh twist – in I’m Ill: The Relapse.

Green explains: “This is going to be a DVD recording so it won’t be an entirely new show. But I staged the show a year and six months ago, so there will be some new material.”

The show is described as “uncut, uncensored, undiluted Neil Green.”

He said: “I like to talk about life experiences in my comedy. It is a very introspective kind of style. I like to keep my Neil Green stage persona separate from Neil Green in real life, because then I can really just be me on stage.”

Adding to the entertainment is hit Durban comedian Dusty Rich who – among his long list of accomplishments – was also the Graca Comedy Showdown winner for 2012 which earned him a spot on the International Nando’s Comedy Fest stage in Durban. He most recently opened for Trevor Noah’s That’s Racist tour.

Green said the young man who once held the spot of KZN’s youngest standup comedian on stage, JD Bauer, will also be included in the show. “He is an up-and-coming comedian, he is new on the scene, but I like his style.”

I’m Ill will be staged on October 27 at the Bat Centre. Expect him to tackle everything from religion and dating to consumerism and homosexuality and everything in between.

“I think regardless of whether you’ve seen me on stage before or not, you’re going to be surprised and you’re going to be coming away from this show having felt that you experienced something different,” he said in a press statement.

• Show starts at 8pm sharp. Tickets cost R80 and are available through Computicket and at Shoprite/Checkers.
