A Democratic Alliance supporter has been taken to hospital in Durban after ANC Youth League supporters attacked him as they made their way to North Beach from the city centre about an hour ago.

Police immediately intervened in the clash and the ANC leadership gathered supporters together to remind them as to the purpose of the march was to march on Absa Bank.

Currently the ANCYL marchers, estimated to be around 2 000, are making their way back to the city centre.

The Democratic Alliance march took place peacefully earlier this morning as an estimated 20 000 supporters marched from the old Circus Site on Argyle Road up to North beach, where the crowd gathered at the amphitheatre.

There was a sense of vibrancy as residents from across the city joined the march, with many bearing placards asking President Jacob Zuma to resign.

Religious leaders as well as DA leaders addressed the crowd once they reached the amphitheatre, where anti-Zuma slogans were chanted.

Every time former Finance Minster Pravin Gordhan's name was mentioned, there were cheers from the crowd.
