The party at New Beach was star-studded, with the crème de le crème of entertainers.

Jacob Zuma’s son Edward and nephew Khulubuse sat and mingled with KwaZulu-Natal politicians in the VIP marquee.

The festival slogan was “I’m young, smart and I vote ANC”.

By 9pm last night, the crowd had swelled with thousands of revellers making their way to the free bash. Metro, SAPS and officers in army uniform had their hands full trying to blockade the VIP entrance and keep the crowd at bay.

Opposition parties have reacted to angrily to the party.

The DA’s Zwakele Mncwango said the Mpisane-ANC party came as no surprise as the couple were “politically connected” and “channelled money back to the ANC”.

He said the DA would write to the public protector, calling for a probe of all contracts given to the Mpisanes and the award processes.
