Teenagers who text more than 300 times a day are more likely to "sext" and have unsafe sex, researchers say.
They found a link between excessive texting and an increased risk of unwanted pregnancies, sexually transmitted diseases and being targets of revenge porn.
It is thought to be due to the teenagers’ inability to control their impulses.
A University of Southern California study of 1 200 pupils with an average age of 16, published in Child Development, found those who send sexually explicit texts engage in riskier sexual behaviour.
