London - Any parent who has ever bought a Lego set for their child will know the screaming, furious pain of stepping on an abandoned plastic brick in bare feet in the middle of the night.

And the Danish company must be aware of the swearing and curses howled in dark sitting rooms the world over, because it has invented an ‘Anti-Lego Slipper’ to protect against such night-time horrors.

Looking like large flippers and cushioned and insulated against the sharp corners of Lego bricks, 1 500 pairs of the red and yellow slippers have been made in co-operation with the toy firm’s French advertising company, Brand Station.

You can register to win one of the pairs on the Lego France website. Or make your own with a couple of layers of bubble wrap tucked inside your bed socks.

Another wheeze is to fine your children 10p for every Lego brick not put away in the toy box before lights out. You might find it more effective than any special slippers.
